I have been so busy lately with lots of new pictures.  I wanted to post a few of my favorites.  These are of Laura.  We have been friends for longer than either of us can remember.  We took them inside which is rarity for me.

Top 10 reasons why I did not love New York this time.

10- a 2 1/2 hour airplane ride ended up being 8 hours and in several different airports

9- After arriving at our hostel after a very long day, our very lovely roommates did not want to use the air. AT ALL!!

8- We changed rooms and our new roommates slept pretty much naked and they were asleep all the time.

7- The first subway ride I saw a huge rat- really it ran right by my feet. (yes, I know that there is rats in the subway but I do not want to see them)

6- We did not have much time to do the fun New York things but we really wanted to see Yankee Stadium before they tore in down. They only give tours at 12:00 we called at 12:15.

5- We went to Starbucks to take a break from the apartment hunting and Cynthia got into a argument with some man. She really is the spitfire in the family.

4- Because I was starving I got into a yelling match with the lady at Forever 21.

3- I had never been to New York in the summer and surprisingly there is no air anywhere. Not the subway, most of the restaurants and even the stores. Yes, I know Georgia is hot but really we go from one air condition place to another.

2- We had just a couple of hours on the last day so we chose to ride the Staten Island Ferry. I have always heard how pretty it was and you can get amazing pictures from it. OK- all false- don't get me wrong you can see the Statue of Liberty from the ferry but it is still boring.

1- Lastly, after all of our hard work, after seeing more of harlem and brooklyn than I would ever want to see Cynthia still do not find an apartment. Broken hearted Cynthia is not a fun Cynthia.

the peachtree road race.

I am already behind on posting but I really wanted to share these pictures from the Peachtree Road Race. I was lucky enough this year to be able to go to the Peachtree race. I am going to admit I was a little amazed. I often wish that I lived somewhere else and I have moved many times. But then you come upon an event that reminds us why we love the south. Maybe I should say why I love the south. We had to get up around 5 and I really wanted to be at the finish line. Of course, we were running late, because who really wants to get up a 5 to go see a race. Honestly, I imagined not very many people there. I kept thinking- who would go just to watch strangers run. Boy, was I wrong! I mean wow- there were people everywhere. We could not even get to the finish line because of so many people. The best part was that as the runners were coming through people were cheering them on. Everyone was yelling and clapping. They were encouraging and some even brought noise makers. There was flags everywhere - people were happy. I couldn't believe it. Who knows? All races might be like that- maybe it's a American tradition that I just didn't know about. I do know that it reminded me of how lucky I am to be born here.

I have been wanting a blog for quite awhile now so that I can tell everyone about my travels. For July 4th this year I decided that I had to go to the redneck games in Dublin, Ga. After going and having such a strange experience, I decided that now was the time to create a blog because really everyone should know about the redneck games:)

First, you should know that I dragged Missy, Sarah (her sister), Zack and Zoe. Lucky for me, Missy also likes to do wierd things. After arriving in Dublin, we get lost first. I know you're wondering how I got lost in such a small city and I blame it all on the directions that map quest gave us. We stopped several times to ask for directions and then the cop stopped us and told us to "hurry and get out of the area that we were in before we got hurt." Looking back, we should have known that the redneck games were not what we were expecting. I can still tell you how we pictured it. We thought there would be lots of events and maybe some gold medals. We honestly thought it would just be 'some good ole boys' getting together. Boy, we couldn't have been more wrong. We missed the hubcap throwing but made it in time to see the bobbing for pig's feet. That was just plain scary. They were so serious about it. During the first round a girl chipped her tooth. Missy and Zack did not even make it to the second round. I watched the whole thing but only because I was raised on a farm and can somehow detach myself from gross things. I just kept thinking you have got to get a picture of this, because no one is going to believe you. The funny thing is they were doing this for a trophy that had a beer can on the top. Yes, a beer can. There was a mud bath. Literally, a mud bath. I was standing pretty far away and still got splattered in mud. I have never seen so many rebel flag bikinis on people that should NOT have been wearing them.

After the mud bath, we just couldn't take anymore. It was bacoming just one giant drunken brawl. Don't get me wrong I love being from the south just as much as the next guy. I love all that it stands for and I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything is this world. This was something different though. I am pretty sure that if anyone had taken my picture my mouth would have been wide open.

So really if you were thinking about going to the redneck games don't bother. Just turn on your hose pipe and dance around in the mud.
